Vilma Linares Vaughn

Vilma brings over 30 years of experience in operations and financial management and has served on numerous non-profit boards. She most recently served as the Deputy Executive Director at the 1199SEIU Training and Employment Funds. Before joining the Funds, Vilma served as the Chief of Staff of its affiliated union, 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East. She started her work in organized labor at the Service Employee International Union (SEIU) in Washington, DC, working there from 2005 to 2012, ultimately holding the position of National Director of the Office of Audits and Affiliate Support.

Prior to her work in labor, she held senior-level administrative and operations positions in higher education and the private sector.  She has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin and an MA in Accounting from Southwest Texas University. She currently serves on the North Manhattan Coalition for Immigrant Rights board of directors and is the founding Treasurer and a board member of Mi Familia Vota.
