This powerful activation was a celebration of community power + cultural resistance, that brought together hundreds of the nation's top visual artists, activists and influencers for creative installations, powerful panels, and music performances.

Ahead of Sankofa.org’s first album release, “Broken Windows,” today the social justice organization, in partnership with global music and entertainment platform TIDAL, shared the powerful short film, “Versus,” starring actor/activist Jesse Williams (Grey’s Anatomy) and V. Bozeman(Empire).
While families across the country prepared to celebrate Thanksgiving, we were on our way to Standing Rock. Climbing PoeTree was invited by the International Indigenous Youth Council to make the journey to Sioux territory and stand against 524 years of continued colonization and brutal attacks on First Nation peoples. When we got there we met with members of the Youth Council and quickly became immersed into the 24 hour prayers and actions that circle the camps.
In light of last week's #GivingTuesday, Sankofa.org has been offered a grant for $30K! This is extremely exciting news for us, as it will allow our organization to continue providing platforms for activists, artists and folks like you to elevate the important work happening across the country to create a more just and fair society.

"Since the election, we at Sankofa.org have had the opportunity to hear and share reflections with key partners and allies about how to stay the course and continue pushing for a progressive human rights agenda amidst the journey ahead. Many have asked, "Where do we go from here?", a question for which there are no easy answers. However, Sankofa.org's commitment to helping elevate critical issues, and creating safe spaces for healing, community and solutions building remains undeterred.
This Election Day, Sankofa.org urges our allies, partners, and all of those who care about justice, peace and equality to vigilantly protect and enforce their right to vote. It is not just the Presidency, but also the future and soul of the entire country that stands to lose most if we do not exercise the collective power of the ballot.
